Meet John Salata, application developer

Application Developer, Competitive Dart Thrower, and Astrophotographer

After spending time in New Mexico, John Salata moved back to Chicago in 2013 with his eyes set on Argonne as a company he hoped to work for. His persistence paid off, as he began work in January 2022 as an Application Developer.

Prior to starting with Argonne, John worked as an application support lead at Intertek. There, he oversaw a staff of six located throughout the globe. Before that, he worked at Aetna as a senior application analyst for 18 years.

John enjoys throwing darts competitively in a league on the weekends. Two seasons ago, John’s team (of which he is the captain) won the city championship. Now, John is taking on a new hobby and learning the skill of astrophotography, which captures light from space in stunning images. John wants to visit Idaho and Maine in the coming year to complete his been there” list of the U.S. states.

John finds joy in spending time with his grandchildren as well. He said, My grandkids always make me smile.” He has two grandsons and two granddaughters.
