Convergence of AI and HPC for Gravitational Wave Astrophysics

Argonne combines advances in AI with extreme and edge computing to unlock new opportunities in astrophysics.

In this project, we combine advances in AI with extreme and edge computing to enhance the science reach of gravitational wave astrophysics.

The development of reusable AI models for wider use and rigorous validation by the community promises to unlock new opportunities in multi-messenger astrophysics.

We have harnessed HPC platforms at ALCF and OLCF to design, train and validate AI models at scale. We have then optimized them for accelerated inference with NVIDIA TensorRT and other quantization methods. These studies explore a broad portfolio of applications encompassing classification, regression, forecasting, and scientific visualization to create interpretable AI tools.
