SC20 First International Workshop on Quantum Computing Software: Call for Papers

Workshop will focus on the unique software tools and techniques needed to interact with quantum computers for both basic and applied research.

Quantum computing is emerging as a remarkable technology that promises to achieve major scientific breakthroughs. Such breakthroughs include solving complex problems whose solutions lie well beyond contemporary – and even future – supercomputers based on conventional technologies. Interacting with these quantum computers, including noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices for both basic and applied research, will require a unique collection of software tools and techniques.

The purpose of this workshop is to explore the innovative software needed to make quantum computing practical and accessible. The workshop will focus heavily on the tools and software for quantum computing with particular emphasis on realized implementations.

Topics of interest for this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Programming Languages
  • Compilers
  • Profilers
  • Numerical Simulators
  • Debuggers
  • Control and Characterization Software
  • Other Quantum Computing Software

Topics not relevant to the workshop include results specific to science applications run on quantum computers, physical design of quantum computing devices, benchmarking or co-design of quantum computing systems, quantum algorithms, quantum networking, and quantum sensing unless there is a clear connection to the topics of interest listed above.

Venue

The workshop will be held online as part of Supercomputing (SC20), which was originally scheduled to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia USA. The conference will now be a fully virtual event.

Important Dates

  • Paper-submission deadline: August 31, 2020
  • Author notification: September 15, 2020
  • Workshop: November 11, 2020

Submission Information

A two-page extended abstract may be submitted online; please select SC20 Workshop: Quantum Computing Software to submit your extended abstract (sign-in required). Submissions will be single-blind reviewed by the Program Committee and either accepted or rejected for presentation at the workshop. Selected accepted papers will be recommended for contribution to a full paper for publication in a special edition of ACM Transactions on Quantum Computing.

Submissions must be provided in PDF format and limited to 2 pages (U.S. letter – 8.5″ x 11″), including bibliography, using the IEEE proceedings template and the IEEE Computer Society conference format (conference, compsoc).
