EOF helped design the Nuclear Shutdown Test Facility, and aided in construction of it. This quarter-scale replica of a reactor cavity measures over 5 stories tall and gathers data on 639 different kinds of measurements.
EOF upgraded the MUSE facility to safely inject molten uranium into liquid sodium at 1,400°C and 3.4 bar.
EOF installed a 3D printer and associated equipment for NSE, ran the required utilities for the printer, and designed the sample prep room. They engaged building maintenance and SMEs to ensure the job was completed safely.
When approached with an idea for an induction furnace that would aid in the melting and mixing of dissimilar metals, EOF technical support staff refined the heater/vacuum tube assembly design, and installed and safely commissioned the equipment.
This test machine was modified to simulate fatigue damage in wind turbine materials. An electric circuit, computer drive, and control software, were added to subject the test specimens to an electric current during operation.
This test machine was designed to help scientists understand the feasibility of energy storage using a flywheel. It is controlled by a computer and incorporates a drive motor, variable transmission, brake, flywheel, and generator.
EOF supported the design, fabrication, and installation of a device to test the feasibility of using small-scale wind power for generating electricity. Almost all of the components had to be custom made before they could be placed on the rooftop of a building to take measurements.

The EOF team has extensive experience designing experimental equipment to support research on a variety of topics. Using our extensive experience, we aim bring your experimental vision to life. Our team of experts partners with various programmatic divisions to build and install the equipment needed to achieve their goals. Incorporating years of experience fabricating, installing, and running experiments in the design phase allows for improvements in safety, efficiency, and cost savings. Working with the required subject matter experts and Environmental Health and Safety personnel, the EOF team ensures equipment design, fabrication, installation, and any iterations of the design process are conducted safety and efficiently.

The EOF team works to design and install experiments and assemblies from scratch, as well as modifying existing or ​“off the shelf” equipment to meet unique testing needs. Our experienced team works to maximize the use of existing infrastructure, while determining the need for additional equipment. Installations range from benchtop, commercially available equipment to one-of-a-kind custom high-bay experiments.
