Commercially Viable Process for Surface Conditioning of Cathode Active Materials

AMD Seminar

Abstract: Demands for lighter devices and safer, longer-duration storage continue to fuel the need for more powerful batteries. This need requires designing new materials, understanding how they function, and developing scalable processes to manufacture them.

In this seminar, we will present results from lab-industry joint efforts with C4V and Primet to develop commercially viable processes for surface conditioning of high-nickel, low-cobalt cathodes. Specific examples will be provided to explain how materials engineering and chemistry is fundamental to designing and scaling-up laboratory processes. We will provide perspectives on manufacturing innovation and the underlying research needs for moving lab discoveries to the marketplace.
