Deep Learning and Neutrino Physics

Abstract: Neutrino physics experiments have entered an era of large-scale, high-resolution imaging detectors, led by the time projection chamber technology and ultimately leading to the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). With this modern neutrino detection technology, experiments can answer questions like Are neutrinos their own antiparticles?” and Are neutrinos the origin of the matter/antimatter asymmetry in the universe?” However, traditional analysis techniques need to be completely revisited to make the most of the high-granularity, high-volume data from the latest neutrino detectors. In this talk, I will discuss how deep learning is enabling discovery in neutrino experiments and showcase its current and future applications in neutrino physics.
