Graphene Cavity QED in the Infrared

PSE/CELS QIS Seminar

Abstract: In a magnetic field, graphene’s electronic system is quantized into a set of square-root-spaced Landau levels, so that dipole transitions between any given pair have a unique energy. This realizes a tunable two-level system, operating natively in strong magnetic fields and in the THz/infrared. By placing the graphene in a cavity, it should be possible to realize a novel qubit for use in exploring strong light/matter interactions and with potential for sensing applications in high fields.
