Group IV Colour Centres in Diamonds for Quantum Technologies

MSD Seminar

Abstract: Quantum technologies hold great promise of drastically increased speed for computing, security for communications and sensitivity for sensing. Among the many possible platforms currently developed, the group IV colour centres in diamond have attracted attention owing to their optically accessible spin, which can be used as a quantum bit, and their excellent optical properties.

In this talk, I will present the development of this platform in terms of quantum properties, their control, their limitations, as well as the use of such colour centres as interfaces between nuclear spins, photons and mechanical vibrations, making them desirable building blocks in a quantum network.
