Magnetic Nanowire Composites for Miniaturized RF Device Applications

AMD Seminar

Abstract: The miniaturization of radio frequency (RF) components has become increasingly in demand because of the popularity of mobile devices. Many state-of-the-art RF components are bulky and lack high power handling capability because of the use of ferrite materials and a permanent magnet that magnetizes the ferrites. Here we present a class of magnetic nanowire composite (MNC) materials that can maintain magnetization in the absence of an external magnetic field because of large shape anisotropy. Our work demonstrates a successful path to fabricate self-biased miniaturized RF components by using MNC materials as ferrite substitutes.
