Abstract: I try to reconstruct Steve Weinberg’s journey in the ​’60s and ​’70s from current algebra to effective field theory (with some interesting side trips). This will be a very personal view, and I am going to pick and choose the highlights that I know most about or are most curious about and that most directly bear the imprint of Steve Weinberg’s unique style.
