Status of the Mu3e Experiment at Paul Scherrer Institute

HEP Seminar

Abstract: Mu3e is an experiment in its research and development phase, dedicated to the search for the charged lepton-flavor violating decay µ+ -> e+ e+ e-. The experiment will be hosted by Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland and make use of the world’s highest intensity muon beam available to particle physics experiments. The Mu3e detector consists of three subdetectors: a central barrel tracking device realized as two double layers of HV-CMOS pixel detectors, a scintillating fiber detector for timing measurements in the central region, and a scintillating tile detector for timing in the end regions.
