Unveiling the Physics Behind Neutrino Mass

PHY Colloquium

Abstract: The most palpable evidence for the existence of physics beyond our current understanding of fundamental particle physics is the discovery, some 20 years ago, that the mass of neutrinos is very tiny but not exactly 0. I will summarize our current understanding of neutrino mass, discuss the theoretical challenges associated with it, and explore some of the many ways we hope to learn more, experimentally and observationally, in the near future.
