Integrated Imaging Institute Research Facilities

The tangible outcomes of the Integrated Imaging Institute’s research projects are the publication of research journal papers, and the development of software and tools that can be spun out to the wider imaging community. Information about these developments is included here, in addition to links to other imaging resources at Argonne such as the scientific user facilities.

Argonne hosts a number of scientific user facilities that are open to the global scientific community through a peer-reviewed user proposal process. Of these, the ones with which I3 works most closely are indicated below, together with links to the facility webpages:

  • The Advanced Photon Source (APS), which provides ultra-bright, high-energy x-ray beams to more than 5,000 (and growing) scientists from around the United States and the world
  • The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM), which provides expertise, instrumentation, and infrastructure for interdisciplinary nanoscience and nanotechnology research
  • The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), which seeks to help researchers solve some of the world’s largest and most complex with a unique combination of supercomputing resources and expertise
