Argonne’s Ian Foster to Lead New Exascale Co-design Center

The Co-Design Center for Online Data Analysis and Reduction at the Exascale was named today as one of four co-design centers to be funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project (ECP). The new center, called CODAR, will be led by Ian Foster, an Argonne Distinguished Fellow and senior scientist in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division.

CODAR researchers will evaluate, deploy, and integrate novel data analysis and reduction methods from which applications developers can choose the most effective method for a specific application. CODAR also will interact with providers of ECP hardware, system software, and programming models, with the aim of better understanding the tradeoffs in the development of exascale systems, applications, and software frameworks.

For further information about CODAR and the other co-design centers, see the Argonne website.
