Art of Science’ winners chosen

Three images resulting from Argonne research have been selected as the best of the Art of Science 2011” competition, earning cash prizes for the laboratory employees who submitted them.

First prize went to Seascape with Fish,” submitted by Vilas Pol (CSE). Second prize was awarded to Turbulent Mixing Noise from Jet Exhaust Nozzel,” submitted by Joe Insley (MCS), and Geometric and Electronic Structure of Pt7-CO Complex,” submitted by Aaron Knoll (MCS), Aslihan Sumer (MSD) and Julius Jellinek (MSD), took third place.

Top prize is $300, second prize is $150 and the third-place winners will receive $50. Images submitted for the competition have been posted to Argonne’s Flickr site. The site includes details about the images and their submitters.

Images submitted for the contest may appear in Argonne’s Building 213 Cafeteria, conference rooms around the site, Argonne Today and other applications. The selection committee comprised employees from across the laboratory with backgrounds in communication.
