The Mathematics and Computer Science Division will hold a full-day tutorial on ​“Parallel Programming with MPI” at Argonne’s Theory and Computing Sciences Center on Friday, June 21. MPI is widely recognized as the de facto standard for parallel programming, and knowledge of MPI is considered a prerequisite for most people aiming for a career in parallel programming.

The morning session will provide an introduction to MPI. The objective is to familiarize the attendees with MPI programming and its associated benefits and to illustrate the use of MPI models in various application domains, such as nuclear physics, computational chemistry, and combustion.

The afternoon session will comprise an advanced-level tutorial focusing on the powerful techniques available in MPI-3. This session will be of particular interest to researchers working on the design and development of next-generation high-end systems, middleware, and applications. 

The tutorial registration is free, and the event is open to the public. An Argonne gate pass is not required. To attend, please RSVP to Kathleen Daily by June 17.
