Munson selected for DOE Project Leadership Institute

Todd Munson, a senior computational scientist in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, has been selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Project Leadership Institute (PLI).

As a member of the 2021 PLI cohort, Todd will join 25 colleagues in a year-long leadership program to foster a culture of project management excellence across the broader DOE complex.

Todd is the lead of DOE’s Exascale Computing Project (ECP) Software Ecosystem and Delivery portfolio, a technical area in the ECP software group that provides important enabling technologies, such as software build and test and integration tools. Todd also has been the deputy director and project manager of two multi-institutional ECP activities – CODAR” and Preparing PETSc/TAO for Exascale.” Moreover, Todd is the Argonne lead of the newly funded DOE SciDAC Institute Frameworks, Algorithms, and Scalable Technologies for Mathematics (FASTMath).

I look forward to learning new ideas for enhancing my leadership experience, both through the instructional lectures and through the capstone project that PLI organizes,” Todd said. Participation in this year-long program will provide extra insights and knowledge that I can immediately apply to my role in managing DOE projects.”

Beginning in January 2021, Todd and his cohort will meet for five virtual instructional sessions on topics ranging from positioning a project for success to leadership for strategic execution, with a final November session in Washington, DC.
