Ngom recognized as a 2021 Black History Month Honoree by Mathematically Gifted & Black

Marieme Ngom, a postdoctoral appointee in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory, was spotlighted as a 2021 Black History Month Honoree on the website Mathematically Gifted & Black.

The website is run by the Network of Minorities in Mathematical Sciences – a group of four women who, since 2016, have selected 28 Black mathematicians to be honored each February.

Ngom received her Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2019. Her research interests include numerical analysis and partial differential equations. Recently she was co-author of the paper The relatively young and rural population may limit the spread and severity of COVID-19 in Africa: a modelling study,” BMJ Global Health 5(5), 2020.
