Webinar Series on Best Practices for Software Developers

A new webinar series aimed at developers of software on high-performance computing (HPC) systems began on May 4, 2016.

These webinars—a joint endeavor of the DOE-funded IDEAS scientific software productivity project and the NERSC, ALCF, and OLCF computing facilities—will present best practices that will help users of HPC systems carry out their software development more productively.

The first webinar, titled What All Codes Should Do” was held on Wednesday, May 4. The presentation was  given by Anshu Dubey, a computer scientist in Argonne’s Mathematics and Computer Science Division. For a writeup and video, see the website at Inside HPC.

The second webinar, titled Developing, Building, and Deploying HPC Software,” was given by Barry Smith, a senior computational mathematician in Argonne’s Mathematics and Computer Science Division, on May 18. See the website at Inside HPC for more informaiton.

The webinars will occur at approximately two-week intervals and last about one hour each.  Audience questions and discussion will be encouraged.
