COBALT (Component-Based Lightweight Toolkit) is a set of component-based system software for system and resource management. It also includes a number of parallel tools.

COBALT is composed of:

• HPC System Software: a resource manager for clusters and IBM BG/L systems
• Mpish: a parallel shell written in MPI
• Bcfg2: a system configuration management tool
