Designing Resilient Infrastructure

Computational tools to assess impact of natural and manmade disasters on national infrastructure

MCS Division scientists are working with scientists in the Global Security Sciences Division to develop computational tools for assessing the impact of natural and man-made disasters on our national infrastructures such as gas, electric power, water, and transportation.

The approach centers on a holistic treatment of the system, including effects that couple different infrastructural sectors to provide quantitative support for hazard assessment, event monitoring, disaster response, and planning activities
