Argonne National Laboratory makes strides in advanced propulsion using ultra-bright X-rays
Advanced propulsion research is underway at Argonne’s co-located scientific user facilities. Key among these facilities is the Advanced Photon Source (APS), one of the world’s most powerful X-ray sources (supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science).
Scientists use these ultra-bright X-rays to characterize structures under different conditions, pressures, and temperatures, including the otherwise inaccessible flows in fuel injectors.
