  • Vortex Matter

Our current research focuses on elucidating vortex dynamics in high temperature superconductors through high-speed magneto-optical imaging complemented with large-scale time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau simulations.
Time dependent Ginzburg-Landau simulations of vortex cutting and reconnecting in a YBCO crystal.
  • Theme IV: Intertwined Order

We investigate a variety of emergent phenomena that are associated with the simultaneous presence of competing or co-operating short-range ordering motifs in the spin, charge, and lattice degrees of freedom.
  • Topological Materials

Our current research focuses on topological semi-metals and superconductors, as well as novel 2D layered materials that exhibit extreme magneto-resistance (XMR).
  • Quantum Mesoscopic Materials

Our current research focuses on materials where quantum interference and quantum fluctuations directly control their thermodynamics and statistics.
Three-dimensional image of the dynamic resistance of the vortex system in a square proximity array
  • Theme I: Method Development

We are developing novel neutron and X-ray scattering methods and data analysis tools that advance our scientific programs and enable new science.
