Biography

Dr. Benjamin Blakely researches the intersections of artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and cybersecurity at Argonne. He has over 20 years’ experience working in a variety of information technology, cybersecurity, research, and teaching roles, having twice built and led information security programs for software companies in the private sector, as well as data science and Salesforce teams, and completed a two-year rotation with the U.S. Department of Defense. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering (minor in Psychology) and PhD in Computer Engineering (minor in Political Science) from Iowa State University where he has stayed involved as an advisory board member, student project mentor, and instructor. He holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications and is the lead inventor on two patents related to encryption key management in cloud infrastructures.
