Program Lead, Nuclear Forensics

Biography

David Chamberlain is the Nuclear Forensics program Lead for the Strategic Security Sciences division at Argonne National Laboratory. His research focuses on national security issues, specifically nuclear and radiological forensics.

Previous experience at Argonne and the predecessor to the Idaho National Laboratory includes spent fuel reprocessing, aqueous separations, nuclear waste form development, and radioactive waste treatment processing. He is a member of two emergency response teams that respond to nuclear and radiological emergencies, and helped start and taught a successful training course for the Department of Defense to help train military personnel and first responders on how to use their radiation detection equipment. He also supported the development of the IAEA guide on radiological crime scene management and is an instructor in the related workshop sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).

Chamberlain received his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Idaho.
