Devon J Powers

Postdoctoral Appointee

Devon’s research focuses on the development of functional separators for energy storage, water treatment, and air filtration applications.

Biography

Devon is a postdoctoral researcher with the Applied Material Division. He has expertise in nanofiber fabrication, and is involved in the electrospinning effort at Argonne National Laboratory.

He received his PhD from the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department at Vanderbilt University. In his dissertation work, he utilized electrospinning (a nanofiber fabrication technique) in order to make highly conductive composite membranes for H2/air fuel cells with good hydration/dehydration dimensional stability. He has also applied electrospinning to prepare membranes for water splitting applications.

Devon’s research interests include composites for solid-state batteries, H2/air fuel cells, ion-exchange membranes for water treatment, and nanofiber fabrication.
