Biography

Farhad Masum is an energy systems analyst in the Fuels and Products Group of the Systems Assessment Center. His research focus is the sustainability of renewable energy generation. His current and past research includes life cycle assessment, technoeconomic analysis, and supply chain optimization to evaluate economic and environmental impacts of bio-power, sustainable aviation fuel, and marine biofuel generation. He contributes to the development of Argonne’s GREET (Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Technologies) model for life cycle analysis of energy systems, products, and technologies.

Prior to joining Argonne, he worked as a postdoctoral research and teaching associate for one year in the University of Georgia, where he earned his PhD in Forestry and Natural Resources and MS in Applied Economics. He holds another MS in Forest Resources from the University of Arkansas and a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Chittagong.
