Frank is a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker by trade since 1982, and has over 40 years experience in fabrication and design. He started work at Argonne in 1990 at Central Shops as an Instrument Maker.

At Central Shops, Frank worked mainly on ultra-high vacuum components for the Advanced Photon Source. His expertise was has been in G-code programming of mills and latheā€˜s,  as well as being proficient in Wire and Conventional EDM. In 1999 Frank transferred to High Energy Physics Division and worked in the Mechanical Support Group as a Engineering Specialist under Vic Guarino. Frank has played a major roll in many HEP projects involving design and fabrication; these include ATLAS Tile Calorimeter at CERN, Minos at the Soudan Underground Mine near Ely Minnesota, and Nova at Ash River. These assignments also required building and setup of many complex motion systems.

Frank transferred over to EOF in January 2020 and  is currently working on the ATLAS upgrade which involves design, fabrication, welding, and building of precision instruments for the bending of complex profiles with 3mm OD. x2.5mm ID. titanium tubing for a cooling system. Frank will also play a big role in prototyping and production of DUNE modules starting the 2020 fiscal year and will support many projects throughout the Lab.

Frank attended the Tool and Die Institute of Chicago and served a 5 year apprenticeship. Frank is a expert at programming CNC equipment on all shop machine tools and is proficient at CAD programs including AutoCAD, and Inventor.
