Biography

Hua Chen is the Environment, Safety and Health Coordinator for the Center for Nanoscale Materials and the Nanoscience and Technology division.

Prior to joining Argonne National Laboratory, Hua Chen worked for Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County and Sandia National Labs. At the Sanitation Districts, his responsibilities included supporting facilities for health and safety hazard concerns such as chemical, noise, ergonomic, fall hazards, confined space, etc., through exposure assessments, sampling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments. He also provided safety training and managed several safety, security and emergency response programs. At Sandia, he was responsible for supporting R&D labs and Facility Management and Operation for health hazard concerns including chemical, noise, biological, laser, nanomaterials, asphyxiant, etc. He also served as subject matter expert or backup for several programs including Chemical Safety, Welding/Cutting/Brazing, Safety Shower and Eyewash, and Food and Beverages Consumption in Laboratory.
