Biography

Dr. Hui Xu is an environmental scientist (analyst) in the Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis division at Argonne National Laboratory, USA. His research interests include modeling environmental sustainability of bioenergy feedstock production, integrated spatial land management, and life-cycle analysis of biofuels. His research integrates computational modeling with geospatial and economic analysis to identify more efficient and sustainable natural resource management strategies. Current research projects include (1) developing database and models to evaluate water stress impact of various energy-food production pathways, (2) evaluating life-cycle impacts of biofuel productions, (3) developing database and models to quantify soil organic carbon change induced by farm management practices. He holds a PhD in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
