Allen has more than 10 years of mechanical engineering experience at Argonne and is currently a mechanical engineer in the Experimental Operations and Facilities division.

Allen is skilled in a wide range of mechanical system designs and analysis providing considerable versatility. He has experience with the design and control of mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatic motion systems. Allen also has expertise on LabVIEW and has applied it in process control and instrumentation, motion control, and machine automation. He has developed designs for the motion control system for Field Mappers for Mu2e, thin wall titanium pipe design, welding for US ITK for ATLAS, and others.

Allen has a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Maine at Orono, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.
