Jason Budd is the Interim Senior Director of Argonne’s Infrastructure Services (IS) Directorate. The IS directorate is comprised of four divisions: Facilities (FAC); Nuclear, Waste, and Site Services (NWS); Project Management Organization (PMO); and Safeguards and Security (SAS). The directorate provides strategic site stewardship and operations of Argonne’s facilities and infrastructure through strategic planning and modernization, while effectively managing projects, programs, and facilities that include nuclear facilities, campus utilities, waste management, and site services, as well as security.

Jason has been with Argonne since 2009 and has served as the Division Director for PMO. He has led campus planning efforts, including securing line item funding for campus capital improvements and overseeing major construction projects. As Division Director, he expanded PMO’s role at the laboratory from a focus on facilities and infrastructure to also include project and portfolio management of operational maturity, software development and implementation, and S&T projects. His organization’s portfolio currently exceeds $2.2B in managed projects. 

Budd has more than 27 years of project management experience across capital, organizational research, and defense program projects and is a Certified Project Management Professional. Prior to starting at Argonne, Budd was the project manager for the Naval Sea Systems Command Program Executive Office in Washington D.C., where he managed research and development defense projects and led integrated project teams with multiple government and executive partners. He was also a branch manager, project manager, and mechanical engineer for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Maryland, where he managed a team of engineers, scientists, and project managers, while overseeing research and design engineering projects.

Jason Budd has both a Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He completed the Strategic Laboratory Leadership Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Budd is also a Project Management Professional certified by the Project Management Institute.
