Biography

Jia Zhou is a nuclear engineer in the Nuclear Science and Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory. Her research primarily focuses on energy economic optimization, energy market analysis, specifically targeting the development of energy efficiency strategies to establish a sustainable and low-carbon future. Her overarching goal is to advance the creation of safe and cost-effective energy technologies that can be applied across various sectors.

Jia’s work involves building upon existing research on energy systems, electricity grid market economics, and advanced energy plant design. She is particularly dedicated to contributing to the development of secure and economically viable nuclear technologies that can support diverse applications. Jia has conducted analysis on how advanced nuclear reactors can contribute to the ambitious decarbonization goals of the United States. Additionally, she explores ways to enhance the competitiveness of nuclear energy relative to other energy sources. Jia aims to drive the development of flexible and cost-efficient reactors capable of meeting the demands of the new low-carbon energy market. Her expertise and research contribute to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions and support the transition towards a cleaner and more efficient energy landscape.
