Joey Koenig is an Argonne Associate who is assisting University Student Programs with the RENEW summer program to help students from underrepresented groups advance their physical science and professional skills for future opportunities.

Biography

Joseph Joey” Koenig is an Argonne Associate who is assisting University Student Programs with the RENEW summer program to help students from underrepresented groups advance their physical science and professional skills for future opportunities. As the main point of contact, he coordinates the hands-on physical science experiments that students and scientists participate in for the program. He has always wanted to bring students from different backgrounds together into STEM conversations, fields, and professions, and give them the confidence to succeed.

Having earned both a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education at Lewis University, Joey is currently pursuing a Master’s in Physics. While at Lewis University, he mentored students and assisted in lab spaces as a teaching assistant, giving him additional experience in STEM education.

Joey is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, the Society of Physics Students, and the Sigma Pi Sigma physics honors society.
