Jonghwan Kwon is an Energy Systems Engineer in the Center for Energy, Environmental and Economic Systems Analysis. His research focus is on modeling and analysis of power systems, electricity markets, and renewable energy integration.

Research Interests

His research focuses primarily on modeling and analysis of power systems operations and planning using a variety of mathematical optimization and simulation methods. Recent studies have focused on 1) resource adequacy under competitive market environment, 2) integration of electric vehicles, 3) energy storage treatment in regional transmission planning, 4) evolving market participation models for energy storage, and 5) evaluation of capacity and energy value of pumped storage hydropower.
