Biography

As a Principal Infrastructure Analyst in the Decision and Infrastructure Sciences (DIS) Division at Argonne National Laboratory, Dr. Bergerson’s research focuses on the resilience of critical infrastructure systems supporting communities throughout the Nation. To this effect, Josh provides critical support to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Regional Resiliency Assessment Program, developing tools and other analytic products and leading stakeholder engagement to assess the resilience of the built environment and identify potential resilience enhancements.

Dr. Bergerson also provides emergency response and recovery support, including supporting FEMA’s Puerto Rico recovery efforts and COVID-19 pandemic response and planning efforts through the Department of Energy and FEMA. For his support to these nationally significant efforts, Josh received two Impact Argonne awards and the Jim Peerenboom Award for Analytic Excellence. Dr. Bergerson first joined Argonne as a postdoc in the Energy Systems Division in 2014, and held this position for two year before joining DIS. Josh holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and a BS in Architectural Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.
