Joshua Eyaru is a computing researcher with expertise in algorithm, data analysis, and software development. He’s in his final year of a Master of Science in Computer Science from Northeastern University and has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Kampala International University.

Joshua has ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and is currently a co-founder of Village Tech Initiative, a community based organization in rural Serere promoting digital skills.

Previously, Joshua worked as the IT Support Staff and Google Suite Administrator at Kampala International University. He is also an alumni of the Young African Leaders Initiative, a flagship program of President Obama.

Joshua is skilled in grassroots mobilization and has improved his cultural intelligence over time. He is passionate about using technology to solve social problems, and is eager to learn new skills in managing growth, volunteers, stakeholder expectations, and managing conflicts.

Here are some of Joshua’s notable achievements:

• Won several grants and impacted 20,000 young people through free CS Coding Skills in 10 schools in Teso
• Initiated a Google Apps for Education project to handle student registration, exam marks, and finance clearance
• Awarded by Google as the 2013 Star Google Student Ambassador for Sub-Saharan Africa
• Nominated by Forum for Democratic Change as the 2021 Member of Parliament for Serere County, Uganda

Joshua is a talented and experienced individual with a passion for using technology to make a difference in the world. He is sure to continue to achieve great things in the years to come.
