Jun-Sang Park

Physicist

Biography

Dr. Jun-Sang Park is a beamline scientist in the Materials Physics and Engineering group at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). He works primarily at APS 1-ID and 6-BM beamlines and contributes to the APS-U High Energy X-ray Microscope project. He is interested in developing novel in situ X-ray characterization techniques to understand material property-performance-structure relationship in polycrystalline materials. He is a winner of the 2009 ASM (American Society for Metals) International Henry Marion Howe award for his contribution in developing a new synchrotron x-ray based stress characterization technique to understand the microstructural evolution of aerospace-grade titanium alloy under load. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in 2009 and joined Argonne in 2013.
