Lisa L. Reed

Administrative Support Supervisor

Lisa supervises the Physical Sciences and Engineering directorate’s administrative assistant team, organizing operational processes to support information flow and cohesive planning throughout the directorate and its five research divisions.

Biography

Lisa Reed is the Administrative Supervisor for Argonne’s Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) directorate. She manages a team of PSE administrative assistants to plan, direct and coordinate supportive services, organizational operations and activities for the directorate. Reed also serves PSE by facilitating operational processes and supporting information flow and planning. In this role, Reed’s efforts enable researchers and divisions in PSE to focus on impactful science.

Reed has more than 40 years of project management and leadership experience at Argonne. Most recently, Reed served as University Student Operations Lead for Educational Programs, where she developed and implemented Argonne’s undergraduate and graduate student programs. Through supporting multiple internship programs, she provided students access to cutting-edge STEM research experiences, mentorship and career opportunities. 

Prior to her role as University Student Operations Lead, Reed served Argonne’s Educational Programs division as a secretary, administrative assistant, staff assistant and program coordinator. In these positions, she provided logistical and administrative support for several student conferences, internships and other outreach programs at the laboratory.

Reed has also supported a variety of Argonne educational events including Science Bowl, Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Science Careers in Search of Women and the Rube Goldberg Competition. Reed is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt trained in process improvement. She also has education in business and human resources.

In 1998, Reed received the Outstanding Service Award from the University of Chicago for her work and dedication to student programs. She is also a recipient of an Impact Argonne Award and a five-time recipient of the Argonne Pacesetter Award. In addition, she holds memberships in Argonne’s Women in Science and Technology employee resource group, the Chicago Council of Science and Technology, the Society of Women Engineers and the Society for Human Resources Management.
