Biography

M. Alex Brown is a principal chemical engineer in the CFCT Radiochemistry group. His research has focused on the chemistry of lanthanides and actinides for nuclear fuel reprocessing, nuclear forensics, and the production and separation of medical isotopes. Other research interests include chemical thermodynamics, kinetics, chemical speciation, XAFS, and analytical chemistry.  Alex is also a member of the NNSA’s Radiological Assistance Program (RAP Team) and an Adjunct Professor of Physics at Illinois Institute of Technology.

Alex holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University, an M.S. in Radiation Physics and a Ph.D. in Radiochemistry from Oregon State University.
