Biography

Matt comes from a background of research and atmospheric instrumentation spanning his academic and professional career. During his undergraduate degree at Central Michigan University, Matt worked on research involving how the Great Lakes influenced snow storms and tornadic events. He also was involved in the set up of an ASOS station at CMU. While at University of North Dakota, Matt taught an instrumentation lab class and was very involved with testing NCAR’s 3D Printed Automated Weather Stations (PAWS). Shortly after graduating from UND, he began working with microwave radiometers at Radiometrics, where he was the QCS Manager and Atmospheric Scientist. 

Presently, Matt is the facility manager for the Argonne Testbed for Multi-scale Observational Studies (ATMOS) and building manager for building 484. He is involved with the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program as an associate mentor for the microwave radiometers and surface meteorology instrumentation. Lastly, Matt is a member of the Measurement Strategy Team for the Community Research on Climate and Urban Science (CROCUS) campaign.
