Dr. Carpenter is a senior scientist at Argonne National Laboratory with over 30 years of experience in the field of experimental nuclear physics. Since 2017, he has been the Group Leader for the Low Energy Experimental Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory. Since 2000, he has been the Scientific Manager of the Gammasphere detector, which is one of the major experimental devices operated at the ATLAS facility at Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Carpenter has published over 800 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, refereed conference proceedings and laboratory reports, and other scientists have cited these publications significantly. He has been a speaker at many domestic and international scientific conferences, workshops and technical meetings, where he presented more than 80 talks.. He has extensive experience of, and contact with, leading researchers in nuclear physics and engineering worldwide, and he is an internationally recognized and respected scientist in the area of experimental nuclear physics as well as a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
