Mohammed Badrt Effat

Postdoctoral Appointee

Electrochemical modeling, Thermal management, Batteries

Biography

Mohammed B. Effat is a postdoctoral researcher at the BatPaC team since Sept. 2022. His current research focus is on the design of thermal management systems for lithium-ion battery modules and studying batteries performance, considering the electrical connections between cells and cell’s aging processes. In addition, he is developing continuum-level electrochemical models for lead-acid batteries to study processes related to electrode passivation, utilization, cell’s design and performance.

Broadly speaking, Dr. Effat does theoretical modelling and simulations to analyze physical phenomena and to develop products. His modeling experience spans the atomistic and continuum levels of modelling. He has hands-on experience with several experimental techniques, and he works closely with experimentalists. His research experiences include lithium-ion Batteries (cells’ development, characterization, thermal management), lead-acid batteries, thermal-fluids engineering for electronics cooling, and solar energy applications (energy-food-water nexus). Prior to joining Argonne, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Power Engineering, Assiut University, Egypt (he is currently on sabbatical).
