Nancy N. Kariuki

Chemist

Biography

Nancy Kariuki is a Chemist at CSE. She joined Argonne National Laboratory in 2005. Her research focus is in the field of materials science and electrocatalytic chemistry, specifically as related to analytical and electrochemistry, catalysis, and nano-technology as applied to the design, fabrication, characterization, and application of nano-structured materials and tools for use in catalysis and energy. She has experience in testing and characterization of single cells or individual components that comprise the cell and the analysis and identification of failure mechanisms using a suite of analytical techniques including Electrochemistry, Synchrotron X-ray techniques (e.g. X-ray scattering, X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X-ray diffraction) and Microscopy techniques.

Dr. Kariuki has present and past experience in collaborating at multi-lab projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy: including Consortium for The H2 from the Next-generation of Electrolyzers of Water (H2NEW), Consortium for The Million Mile Fuel Cell Technology Fuel Cell (M2FCT), Consortium for The Performance and Durability (FC-PAD), Electrocatalysis Consortium (ElectroCat), Rationally Designed Catalyst Layers for PEMFC Performance Optimization, PEFC Lifetime Limitations: The Role of Cathode Electrocatalyst Degradation, and Non-Platinum Bimetallic Cathode Electrocatalysts.
