Dr. Tkac received a PhD in Nuclear Chemistry from the Comenius University, Slovakia in 2003 and joined Argonne in October 2009. He has over 20 years of experience in radiochemistry and his work concentrates on developing and demonstrating innovative aqueous separation and purification processes for medical isotopes and spent nuclear fuel applications. Experimental techniques embrace solvent extraction, chromatography separations, spectroscopy, electro-analytical techniques, and radio-detection methods. In his current role, he also manages Mo-99 program at Argonne which focuses on creating a domestic supply of this important medical isotope through research and development partnerships with commercial developers and NNSA.
