Biography

Dr. Ravindra Singh is a Principal Distribution Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory. He received the B.Tech. (with honors) degree from HBTI, Kanpur, India, the M.Sc. Engg.) degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, and the Ph.D. degree from Imperial College London, London, U.K., in 2002, 2004, and 2009, respectively, all in electrical engineering.

Dr. Singh’s current research focus is in the areas of distribution system state estimation, ADMS, renewable integration, DERMS, cyber-security of power systems, and microgrids. Prior to joining Argonne, he has worked with Honeywell and ABB Corporate Research Center, where he was involved in some key projects such as the development of DMS training simulator, condition-based protection and control of distribution networks, domain-based cyber-security of digital substations and development of microgrid management functions.

Dr. Singh is active in professional activities. He is a chair of IEEE working group on distribution system state estimation, member of the steering committee of IEEE Electrification Magazine and also serves as an editor of IEEE transactions on power systems.

Dr. Singh also manages a well-equipped real-time grid simulation lab with power-hardware-in-loop (PHIL) and cyber-security testbed capabilities.
