Rikutaro Rik” Yoshida is the director of the High Energy Physics division at Argonne National Laboratory.

Biography

Rikutaro Rik” Yoshida is the director of the High Energy Physics division at Argonne National Laboratory.

Dr. Yoshida came to Argonne in 2019 from Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Laboratory where he led the Electron-Ion Collider Center. Prior to that, he served as Argonne’s High Energy Physics deputy division director until 2016. He has worked within the national laboratory complex since 1996.

Dr. Yoshida has a doctorate in high energy physics from Northwestern University, is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and has extensive collider physics experience. He was a spokesperson of the ZEUS experiment at the HERA Collider at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg, Germany—a scientific collaboration that included about 400 physicists from 56 institutes in 17 countries. He also helped lead Argonne’s efforts on the ATLAS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider.
