Biography

Rui Hu is a Principal Nuclear Engineer and Manager of the Safety and Engineering Analysis Department of the Nuclear Science and Engineering Division at Argonne. He provides technical leadership for a variety of activities on reactor safety, thermal fluids methods, multi-physics modeling and simulations, and advanced reactor analysis. He also leads the development of an advanced system analysis tool, SAM, for advanced non-LWR safety analysis. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI for a number of projects on SAM development, application, validation, or code qualification. Hu’s duties at Argonne also include providing system thermal-hydraulics and CFD expertise for evaluating the designs and operations of advanced reactor concepts and engineering systems.

Hu joined Argonne in 2010 as a post-doctoral appointee right after receiving his Ph.D in nuclear engineering from MIT. His areas of technical expertise include reactor thermal-hydraulics, computational fluid dynamics, and multi-physics multi-scale modeling and simulation of nuclear reactor systems.
