Shefali Saxena

Control System Engineer Specialist

Shefali specializes in radiation detection, data acquisition and FPGA firmware. Her responsibilities involve beamline control systems, trigger-timing system for Dynamic Compression Sector and readout controls for Quantum Information Science (QIS).

Biography

Shefali is a member of Beamline Controls and Data Acquisition (BCDA) group in X-ray Science Division (XSD) of Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory. Shefali is interested in analog and digital data acquisition systems, FPGA programming and digital signal processing, radiation detection and measurements, timing and trigger systems and control systems. Currently she is working with EPICS based accelerator control systems, trigger and timing systems for dynamic compression sector and radio-frequency readout and controls for mid to large quantum information systems.

During her postdoctoral she has worked on the development of slope box extension system for digital data-acquisition for Gammasphere, digital teststand digitizer emulator module for Gamma Ray Energy Tracking Array (GRETA) and ATLAS Detector readout with Front-End LInk eXchange (FELIX) for ATLAS experiment at CERN. Shefali has developed a high-throughput high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometry using real-time adaptive digital pulse processing system during her PhD research. She also has experience in working on Microstrip components such as low pass filters, tunable bandstop filters and reconfigurable dual band circular microstrip patch antenna.

Shefali received her PhD in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University. She completed her masters in Nuclear Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India and bachelors in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Rajasthan Technical University, India. Prior to joining BCDA group in XSD, she was a postdoctoral researcher in High Energy Physics Division at Argonne.
