Shishir Kumar

Postdoctoral Appointee

Biography

Shishir Kumar is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Systems Assessment group of the Energy Systems division. His focus is on sustainability and techno-economic cost-benefit analysis of chemicals and fuels production pathways using life cycle analysis (LCA) based techniques.

Shishir received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas. His research focused on sustainable synthesis for optimized production of inorganic nanomaterials using microwave technology, for application as broad spectrum antimicrobial agents. The sustainability of the processes developed in his research was achieved through LCA based assessments and process optimization was accomplished using experimental design with statistical analysis. Shishir received his Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pune, India.

Prior to joining Argonne, Shishir worked as a Process Engineer at an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm in Houston, providing technical consulting to various companies in the energy sector, as a chemical process and safety expert for petrochemical plants.
